2016 FINNISS SHIRAZ
In 2016 the family sourced some very high grade single vineyard Shiraz from the Finniss region of South Australia. Eight barrells were chosen and from these, only the best four were chosen to be used for the style of Shiraz we were looking for. The young wine was kept in barrels made from two and three year old oak where it matured and flavoured for 16 months.
TO THE NOSE
An intriguing blend of the rich ripe notes from an early, high quality vintage, and the cooler spice which come from the maritime site and sandy soils of the region. Floral undertones add an extra dimension to this already exciting drop.
A classically South Australian, medium-full bodied variety, this glorious shiraz boasts balanced notes of spice throughout with a subtle kick of toasty length from matured fine oak. The undertones of floral and blue fruits re-enter this fiery blend to balance slight savoury tones ensuring that the wine is rounded and gentle to the pallet.
2016 McLAREN VALE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Grown and hand picked in the Mclaren Vale region, the vines that these grapes came from were older yet well balanced. A classic situation where the winemaker took a more hands off approach and let the wine do what it wanted. All this beautiful young wine needed was 16 months in two year old oak barrels to produce a full bodied Mclaren Vale Cab Sav that dances on the pallet.
TO THE NOSE
Cabernet Sauvignon is fragrant and bold with perfume of red berries, cassis, dried herbs and cedary French oak.
Cabernet can be knows for its tannin, dryness or astringency. However, the ideal maritime conditions of the McLaren Vale wine region have ensured genuine ripeness and a rich flavour. Delicately firm, while slightly fruity and sweet our Cabernet dances from the nose to the pallet with its rich, bold tones. Undertones of oak offer persistence while the fruit remains the vital core.
